Domaine Denis Berthaut, Fixin 'Les Crais' 2020

The village of Fixin doesn’t have the same vaunted reputation as places like Vosne-Romanée or Gevrey-Chambertin. In the hands of the right producers, that creates the potential for great value. Amélie Berthaut is one of those winemakers. The best grower in Fixin today, Amélie minimizes the use of oak to produce a style of Red Burgundy that’s savory, smooth, and nuanced. While far rarer, her textured, earthy White Burgundy is very much worth seeking out as well.
