Sables Verts didn’t cross our radar thanks to a famous family legacy or some wild CV naming every domaine in Burgundy. We simply tasted their wines, and immediately realized they were onto something special. Launched in 2019 by the young husband-and-wife team of Caroline Meurée and Hervé Maligne, Sables Verts is making some seriously exciting cabernet franc and chenin blanc in the Loire Valley.

This cab franc comes from 70+ year-old vines on the Les Poyeux vineyard. If that name rings a bell, it’s because Poyeux is famously helmed by Clos Rougeard. The wine is concentrated and age-worthy, yet spicy and fresh.
