Sauvignon Blanc is a grape we all know. Sancerre is a wine we all know. Not everyone knows that they are the same thing. In France, Sauvignon Blanc’s main area is a series of towns stacked on top of each other in the Loire Valley. Towns like Sancerre, Pouilly fumé, Quincy, etc. all make the wine in a similar style here. It’s meant to be as crisp as possible, always aged in stainless steel, and should be relatively inexpensive.
