Egly-Ouriet ages its wines in bottle for up to 100 months before release. Those wines are made from old-vine, mostly pinot noir, which Francis Egly harvests late for added ripeness. The resulting house style is powerful, rich, and nuanced - like sparkling versions of the very best Burgundy.
This is Egly-Ouriet’s rare, still (non-sparkling) red wine. Reminiscent of exceptionally plush yet chiseled Grand Cru Red Burgundy, it illustrates why Ambonnay is one of the best places on earth to grow pinot noir.
