Bairrada is currently one of the most under-the-radar white wine regions on the planet. Its local grape varieties are obscure, but the quality of its wines is outstanding. For proof, look no further than Dirk Niepoort, and this bottling that he makes from bical and maria gomes. Like a slightly tropical White Burgundy with the minerality of Chablis, this wine is fresh, complex, and deeply structured.
Tastes like: Peach, lime zest, sea salt, grilled almonds.
How to drink: Chilled but not too cold, with soft cheeses or rich seafood dishes.
