Hubert Lignier, 'Charmes-Chambertin' Grand Cru 2020

The Hubert Lignier wines from Romain Lignier are some of Burgundy’s all-time greats. His last vintage before tragically passing away was 2004, and the winery experienced a few up-and-down years thereafter. Recent vintages, however, are very much back on track, and Lignier has reclaimed its place among Burgundy’s best.

Lignier’s Grand Crus are an embarrassment of riches. The Griotte and Charmes-Chambertin are floral, soft, and finessed, while the Clos de Vougeot is dense, powerful, and a bit smoky.
