Hubert Lignier, 'Clos de la Roche' Grand Cru MCMLV 2020 Magnum

$2,800

The Hubert Lignier wines from Romain Lignier are some of Burgundy’s all-time greats. His last vintage before tragically passing away was 2004, and the winery experienced a few up-and-down years thereafter. Recent vintages, however, are very much back on track, and Lignier has reclaimed its place among Burgundy’s best.

Clos de la Roche is the Grand Cru for which the Lignier’s are most famous. It’s simultaneously massive and nuanced in a way only the very best Grand Crus can pull off. The “MCMLV” bottling comes entirely from a plot that was used to propagate the rest of the Lignier vineyards 70 years ago. The 27 rows of pinot noir only yield two barrels of wine each year.
