Isabelle Suire, Saumur Rouge 2022

 On the southern banks of the Loire, Isabelle Suire took over her family’s century-old winery in 2007. Since then, the domaine’s chenin blanc and cabernet franc have been on a steadily upward trajectory, as has her profile as a highly talented winemaker. Isabelle is now the president of Saumur’s white wine association (the legendary Romaine Guiberteau holds the position for reds). And like Guiberteau, Isabelle produces equally delicious, expressive wines in both colors. She crafts this savory, spicy red from organic cab franc.

Tastes like: Red plum, lilacs, serrano pepper.

How to drink: Lightly chilled with pepperoni pizza or anything on the grill at a summer cookout.
