Mount Etna, with its sea breezes, high altitudes, and lava flows (literally), is a unique place to make wine. Nobody masters the conditions better than Girolamo Russo and his son, Giuseppi. Giuseppi uses century-old vines of the local Sicilian grape, nerello mascalese, to make this red wine. It’s bright and savory, more reminiscent of Burgundy than Barolo.Tastes like: Cherry, smoke, balsamic, leather.
How to drink: Alongside caponata or eggplant parm, or your go-to pasta with red sauce.
