Corsica doesn’t have the wine pedigree of other European islands - think Sicily, Santorini, the Canary Islands. However, if one producer can change that, it’s Jean-Charles Abbatucci.
Jean-Charles is a champion of Corsica’s obscure native grape varieties, many of which his father brought back from the edge of extinction during his tenure at the helm of this 600 year-old estate. This rosé, which is named after Jean-Charles’ daughter and eventual successor, Faustine, is made from a grape called sciaccarellu. Farmed biodynamically in a rugged area near Corsica’s southern coast, it yields a floral, refreshing rosé, with all the bright salty notes you’d expect from grapes grown in the middle of the Mediterranean.
