Serafino Rivella, Barbaresco 'Montestefano' 2020

Teobaldo Rivella and his wife, Maria, make just two wines, a dolcetto and a Barbaresco. Both come from the same vineyard, and both are produced in very small quantities (a few hundred cases total). They’re scarce, but they rank among our favorites in Barbaresco. The brawn and savory character of the old-school Rivella is on display here, but the warm vintage and Montestefano’s freshness give it an early-drinking appeal that sets it apart.
