We just received a range of wines from one of the most exciting ‘grower producers’ in Champagne - Benoît Marguet. Benoît is at the forefront of the region’s natural wine movement. He makes biodynamic wines - Benoît’s two horses handle all the plowing - that receive minimal added sulfur, and no dosage (added sugar). The result is pure, vibrant Champagne.
The ‘Ambonnay’ is 50/50 chardonnay and pinot noir, while the rosé is heavier on chardonnay. Both are bottled without any added sulfur, and balance richer fruit flavors with brighter mineral ones.
