Roberto Conterno is one of the world’s greatest winemakers, and we’d drink Giacomo Conterno Barolo everyday if we could. But we can’t. Fortunately, in 2018, Roberto acquired a winery a couple hours north of Barolo in an area called Gattinara. This cooler region of Piedmont yields nebbiolo that’s bright, floral, and approachable out of the gates. Roberto’s is reminiscent of softer vintages of his Barolo. It’s best in class.
