Paolo Bea is one of the greatest natural winemakers in Italy. In the hills of Umbria, he makes tiny quantity of this red from a blend of sangiovese, montepulciano, and sagrantino. The grapes spend a long time macerating with the skins, and the wine is aged for 4 years before release. That leads to a rich, powerfully structured red - like the rebellious cousin of Brunello.
