Salvano, Barbaresco 1985

Salvano is a relatively unknown producer who made this wine in vineyards neighboring the legendary wines of Gaja and Giacosa. This isn’t that, but it is still delicious. The style is rustic meaning it’s full of the earthy, leathery, and smoky flavors found in wines from the region. This is best served after one to two hours in a decanter.

1985 is one of the great vintages of the 1980s. It’s a dark and full-bodied vintage. With wines of this age the flavors become more umami than fruity.

This is an old bottle. It is very important this wine is served with the proper steps to ensure it has the best flavor when drinking. We inspect the quality and condition of the bottles but cannot guarantee the final condition.

Here is our video on How to Decant.

*Opening old wine can be tricky. Many corks are fragile, and if you’re not careful, can break. Just because a cork crumbles doesn't mean the wine’s off. If you're new to buying old wine or curious about the condition, just reach out.

Please note: we aren’t able to take returns of any corked or damaged bottles.
