It had been over 30 years since Château de Bonnezeaux had released a bottle of wine. Then in 2012, Guyonne Saclier de la Bâtie began farming chenin blanc on the abandoned vineyards. Like her mentor, the legendary Mark Angeli of Ferme de Sansonnière, she farmed biodynamically from the get-go. Pierre Boisseaux and Léa Meslet took over in 2019, and the wines have continued their steeply upward trajectory in terms of both quality and scarcity.
This is their first-ever release of ‘Minee Basse’, which they craft from a small, schist plot in Anjou. Precise, richly textured, intensely mineral - this is one of our absolute favorite bottles of chenin blanc being made in the Loire today.
