Château Massereau, 'Cuvée K' Bordeaux Supérieur 2009

$35
Because of the region’s grape varieties and winemaking techniques, few wines on the planet are as ageable as Bordeaux. That’s clear if you happen to get your hands on some half-century-old Latour or Mouton Rothschild, but it’s also evident from more accessible bottles like this one from Chateau Massereau. It’s aged at the winery until it’s ready to drink, so even though the organically grown grapes were picked in 2009, the wine wasn’t released in the US until 2021. This makes for a classic old-school Bordeaux with depth, complexity, and age-imparted savory flavors like tobacco and leather.

Tastes like: Blackberry, plum, chocolate, tobacco, and leather.

How to drink: Decant for an hour. Drink with pork chops, grilled steak, and any style of potatoes.
