Along with Roberto Conterno’s wines at Nervi-Conterno, Cristiano Garella makes our favorite wines in Alto Piemonte. The cool, high-altitude vineyards here yield fresher, easier-drinking expressions of nebbiolo than you’d find a couple hours south in Barolo and Barbaresco. This small-production bottling is made with grapes from organic plots surrounding the winery’s cellar.
Tastes like: Dried cherry, roses, licorice, leather.
How to drink: A perfect pizza wine, but also delicious with roasted veggies or winter stews.
