Dominique Lafon, Bourgogne Blanc 2020

At Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Dominique Lafon makes some of the most powerful and long-lived whites in Burgundy, if not the world. Since 2008, he has also been making wines under his own label, using grapes from his vineyards in and around Meursault. These wines may not have the same history or stock of priceless vineyards, but they do have Dominique. The result is White Burgundy that seriously over-delivers for the price.

Here's what you should know about it:
  • This wine is made with biodynamically-farmed chardonnay from plots Dominique owns or farms in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.
  • Dominique avoids the use of oak, as well as reduction. His wines are classic – rich and toasty, yet mineral-driven and refreshing.
  • Comtes Lafon makes wines from every Premier Cru in Meursault. They’re phenomenal, but they’re a lot more expensive and they need time to mature. This wine is ready now.
Things we actually said...

“Most Lafon is priced appropriately, meaning very expensive. This is an opportunity to taste the classic Lafon style, but at a much more approachable price.”
