Jérome Fornerot, Saint-Aubin Blanc 'Champ-Tirant' 2022
Over the last decade or so, no source of White Burgundy has seen a quality explosion like Saint-Aubin. The village, which borders Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, is cooler than its more famous neighbors. As temperatures have risen, Saint-Aubin whites have gained weight and texture that was previously not possible. Now, it yields collectible wines from the likes of PYCM, Hubert Lamy, and Paul Pillot. Jérome Fornerot doesn’t have the name recognition of those Burgundy icons, but his White Burgundy exemplifies Saint-Aubin’s quality-to-price ratio as well as anyone’s.
