When it comes to Rioja, describing López de Heredia always ends up feeling like emptying out a grab-bag of superlatives – most traditional, most important, most age-worthy – and the list goes on. We’ll save everyone some time and boil it down to this: López is the only Rioja we drink.
The Tondonia vineyard is López de Heredia’s most famous, and the tempranillo-based red that it yields is the cornerstone of their lineup. Like all López reds, it’s deep and savory, with flavors more akin to tea and cigars than flowers and fruit.
