Wines from Lombardy are less well-known than those from nearby Piedmont, but the region’s cool, alpine vineyards yield wines that are very much worth exploring. The first place to look is Valtellina, where Nino Negri makes the area’s top wines. They make this full, floral white wine from chardonnay, as well as nebbiolo, which receives no skin-contact and thus produces a white wine.
Tastes like: Peach, basil, elderflower, vanilla.
How to drink: Chilled alongside shellfish or cheese and charcuterie.
