Sérol, Côte Roannaise 'Oudan' 2020
While the Côte Roannaise is technically part of the Loire, it should really be compared to Beaujolais. For example, not only is Domaine Sérol a 30-minute drive from Morgon, but it makes bright, chillable red wines from gamay. Stéphane Sérol - the family’s 5th generation to run the domaine - makes this organic bottling from a relatively warm vineyard site, which yields a concentrated yet lifted red that reminds us of our favorite Beaujoalis.
Tastes like: Strawberry, cracked pepper, violets.
How to drink: Lightly chilled with roast chicken, BBQ, or cheese and charcuterie.
