When we think of savory, salty, richly textured white wines, our go-to’s tend to be Burgundy, Jura, and the Loire. Over the last few years, the Dão region of Portugal has very much joined the fold as well. For proof, look no further than this wine from Textura, a project overseen by the country’s best winemaker, Luis Seabra. ‘Pretexto’ is made with two native grape varieties, encruzado and bical, which are farmed organically at high altitudes in the region’s granite soils.
Tastes like: Peach, brioche, salted almonds.
How to drink: Chilled with seafood, or anytime you want an alternative to White Burgundy.
Ships from: New York, NY, USA
