Domaine Julien Cruchandeau, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge 'Les Valancons' 2024

For the last 20 years, Julien Cruchandeau has been at the forefront of bringing high-quality winemaking to less heralded parts of Burgundy. That started in Bouzeron, where he focused on aligoté, with some initial assistance from the legendary Aubert de Villaine of DRC. Julien then moved on to the hills above Nuits-Saint-Georges, which is where he organically farms this pinot noir. It’s robust and earthy, while still showing Julien’s bright, elegant touch in the cellar.

Tastes like: Blackberry, baking spices, grilled mushrooms.

How to drink: Alongside roast chicken or mushroom risotto.
