Chacra wines come from a little-known place for winemaking: northern Patagonia in Argentina. The people they come from, however, are as well-known as it gets: Jean-Marc Roulot and Piero Incisa (the producer of Sassicaia). Together, they’re making what’s quickly becoming our favorite chardonnay and pinot noir on this side of the Atlantic.
This pinot from 90-year-old vines is the most structured and age-worthy red from Chacra, if not all of South America. Nuanced, savory, and a bit smoky, this is going to be a target of collectors (and a lot more expensive) sooner than later.
