The Hubert Lignier wines from Romain Lignier are some of Burgundy’s all-time greats. His last vintage before tragically passing away was 2004, and the winery experienced a few up-and-down years thereafter. Recent vintages, however, are very much back on track, and Lignier has reclaimed its place among Burgundy’s best.
Lignier doesn’t make much white wine, but the limited amount they produce from a backyard-sized vineyard in Saint-Romain is worth seeking out. It’s crisp, clean, and mineral-driven.
