For proof, look no further than Nino Negri, an estate that’s been making nebbiolo (locally called Chiavennasca) from the area’s alpine vineyards for more than a century. ‘Mazèr’ is 100% nebbiolo, made with a small portion of dried grapes, which add rich, dark-fruit flavors to its spicy, herbal notes.
Tastes like: Blueberry, liquorice, bay leaf.
How to drink: Alongside risotto, rich red sauce dishes, or roasted meat.
