Gerard Boulay, Sancerre 'Chavignol' 2023 3-pack
$110
Gérard Boulay is on a very short list of the best producers in Sancerre. He has farmed organically for more than 30 years, hand-harvesting grapes in Sancerre’s most renowned village, Chavignol. He takes advantage of the same soils found in Chablis to craft exceptionally fresh white wines. Citrusy and salty, textured and detailed - there aren’t many wines better suited to summertime than this.
Here's what you should know about it:
- Gérard Boulay’s family has been growing grapes in the village of Chavignol since 1380.
- Chavignol, which has the same type of limestone soils as Chablis, is home to the best sauvignon blanc on the planet.
- Along with the likes of Cotat, Vatan, and Vacheron, Boulay is as good as Sancerre gets.

As sommeliers, we often get asked, “What’s the best wine on the list?”
