G. Rinaldi, Ruché 2018
The Rinaldi family is iconic in Barolo, and they’re hipsters of sorts too. Regal and cool is a combination that describes our most beloved producers. While Rinaldi’s Barolo wines are best when aged 10+ years, they also make wine from some more obscure grapes meant for early and easy drinking. Ruché is one of them, and it’s a grape that is not imported into the US. We buy it in Italy in small quantities; we’re sharing our stash with you.
Here's what you should know about it:
- The winery is run by two sisters, Marta and Carlotta. They are wonderful people.
- Ruché tastes like wild fruit, herbs, and pepper.
- Serve it a touch chilled and preferably before dinner.
- If you find more of it, buy it, as only 2,500 bottles were produced.
“Elegant! Very fruity… very good for tomato sauce pasta.”
“What can you say? That it’s the perfect red wine? Yes, you could say that!”
“Pizzzzzzzzaaaaa.”

Call it a hit list, a daily deal, or whatever you like. It’s the best stuff we have right now— and at the best prices.
