Jolie-Laide is California’s most boutique natural winery, producing less than 500 cases of wine per year. They use the Sonoma Coast’s cool-climate to grow grapes native to more remote regions of France, like the Jura and Rhône. Though the grapes they use are many, their winemaking method is simple: grapes are picked by hand, foot crushed, and aged in old, neutral oak. The result is uncommon flavors that are bright, wild, and pure.
This vibrant red is made of historical and rare grapes that you might be surprised have deep roots in California: trousseau, cabernet pfeffer, valdiguié and gamay. It simultaneously tastes like the whole fruit stand and the whole spice rack.
