Domaine de Villaine, Bouzeron Aligoté 2022 3-pack (Pre-Sale Arriving March)

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the most renowned winery on the planet, and its co-owner, Aubert de Villaine, is one of the world’s most revered winemakers. While Aubert primarily produces red wines at DRC, the focus at his eponymous domaine is whites. In fact, Domaine de Villaine has long been Burgundy’s foremost champion of the aligoté grape. From a half hour south of DRC in the village of Bouzeron, aligoté yields this fresh, floral, salty White Burgundy.

Here's what you should know about it:
  • Aubert de Villaine, co-director of DRC, settled in Bouzeron in the ‘70s. Bouzeron is a village in Burgundy where the only permitted grape is aligoté.
  • Now run by Aubert’s nephew, Pierre de Benoist, Domaine de Villaine has helped turn aligoté from an afterthought into a source of serious White Burgundy.
  • DRC does make a small amount of white wine, one bottle of which can cost more than 200 bottles of this aligoté.
